What Are You Struggling With Right Now?

What are you struggling with right now?

What are the challenges in your life that you wish to overcome on a personal level but just find it so hard to do?

Think on this for a moment.

Chances are, the things you find hard to do, the people around you also find hard to do. What I mean by this is simple. You learn from observing, especially during childhood. For the first seven years of your life, you simply learn through observation. You watch your mother and father. You watch your teachers. You watch your peers.

From these people you learn fundamental rules. You gain the knowledge of what you can do, and what is appropriate in any given situation. There are hundreds of thousands of these small rules that you must learn, but for the most part, they are not taught to you. You simply absorb them.

Along with the absorption, you are absorbing patterns of behavior that you see around you. Let’s say that your parents come home from their day jobs (which support you quite nicely) and simply sit around. They watch TV. They listen to music. They drink a little.

As a child, you absorb these behaviors. This doesn’t mean that you will become a carbon copy of your parents or even do the things that they do. But it does mean that your subconscious will build a system that’s fixed on these structures.

Have you struggled with deadlines? Do you have a bad habit of procrastination? Do you always want to put stuff off until tomorrow? —and when tomorrow comes? This makes life stressful and frantic. When one thinks back to one’s childhood, however, you can understand why that is. Your parents were the same way. You took the foundation they laid out for you and implanted it in your brain.

So how can we overcome these systems? It’s simple, but it will take a bit of work. All you have to do is live by repetition. If you have a problem with procrastination, make it a habit to do your work early. This will update your software and set you up for success.
