The 3 Best Habits Every Rich Person Has!

Are you tired of being poor?

Do you finally want to make that leap and do what it takes to be rich?

If so, I’ve got some advice for you. What I am offering here comes from decades of knowing how to live the “rich” way. It comes directly from the playbook of wealthy men and women all around the world.

In order to be rich, you must develop the habits that rich people have. This means discarding many of the habits that you currently have and that are feeding into your less-than-stellar lifestyle.

Remember: keeping your current habits will only ensure that you remain broke. As such, I urge you to check out this list of the top three habits every rich person has (that poor people don’t). Changing your habits and incorporating this advice into your lifestyle will go a long way toward making you wealthy, as well.

1. Pay Yourself First

I was just telling a friend about this the other night. He asked me, “How do I make sure I’ve got enough money? How do I keep giving all my money away?”

The question stopped me, not because it was complex, but because I didn’t believe my friend didn’t even know the answer to such a simple question.

We had grown up together but taken very different paths in life. Still, meeting for the first time in a few years, I could tell he was yearning to know how to be successful himself.

So I told him what my grandfather always told me and what wealth experts have been saying for decades: pay yourself first.

Think about it. If you pay yourself before you pay any of your bills or expenses, you will always have a little bit of money. In my grandfather’s day, it was recommended to save 10%.

Really, that’s all you needed back then. Accounting for inflation and other economic shifts, however, you likely want to raise the percentage and pay yourself a little bit more. 30% is a good starting point.

I know what you’re thinking: “I already struggle to make ends meet. I can’t pay myself.”

Actually, this is wrong. Think about all your extra expenses. Do you have a phone? Television? Internet? If so, you undoubtedly have a bit of extra money.

If it makes you feel better to start small, there’s no shame in setting a little bit aside. But as you get more comfortable forming this habit, try to set more and more money away and pay yourself first.

If you never form this habit, you will never become rich.

It’s as simple as that.

2. Count Your Money

Are you counting your money every day? How about every week?

If not, you should be.

Rich people are always on top of their finances. They know what they are buying and how much they are spending. They are never left in the dark about their income or their cash flow, and as a result, they make wiser decisions with their money.

When was the last time you reviewed all your expenses?

If it’s been more than a week, you should sit down today and review everything. Make every cent accounted for. If it helps, you can do this every night before bed to truly stay on top of your money.

Because here’s the reality: most poor people don’t. They get a paycheck and then spend it. They don’t keep track of where the money goes.

And then they always run out. They start living hard. They spend too much money at McDonald’s and then wonder where all their money went.

They never pay themselves first.

This is a losing strategy. If you want to start making informed decisions about your money that can help you be rich, you need to start counting your finances. Yes, daily.

This is the only way that you will be able to truly say you know what’s going on with your money. It will also make you more familiar with excess purchases and put you on track to proper spending. All of this is good reason to start counting your money today.

3. Don’t Settle

Rich people never settle for what they have in the moment.

Instead, they are always focusing on ways they can make even more money. If you don’t have this mindset, there’s a good chance you will never be rich.

Why?

Because it’s people who think this way who get stuck in dead-end jobs for twenty or thirty years. It’s these types of people who end up living off busted social security and Medicaid.

Obviously, this isn’t what anyone wants.

Instead of doing this, you should constantly be thinking about ways to improve your profits. Could you start a better business? Could you raise prices? Could you make better, smarter investments that give you greater returns?

You must think about all of this and put plans into action if you plan on becoming rich.
